Networks are scrambling to make schedule changes amid the writers' strike, which is entering its fourth day and could affect the rest of the TV season.
Late Wednesday, Fox announced a winter schedule without 24, which will sit out the strike unless there's a fast resolution. But Fox is adding new reality series The Moment of Truth — which straps cash-seeking contestants to lie detectors — on Jan. 23, and When Women Rule the World, a Survivor-like setting in which women make all the decisions, March 3.

MORE: How the strike affects cable

Current series including Prison Break, Back to You and House will conserve new episodes for early next year. (Prison takes a break after next week and returns Jan. 14.) But the changes aren't set in stone: "We would unscramble the egg if the strike ended tomorrow," says Fox program planning chief Preston Beckman.

Once the "sweeps" period ends Nov. 28, viewers will immediately see a much heavier load of pre-holiday repeats — which usually begin in mid-December — on all networks as they conserve fresh episodes for January.

Meanwhile, ABC shelved new drama Cashmere Mafia, which was to have premiered Nov. 27. But the network still plans to air an eight-episode half-season of Lost.

Most sitcoms have either shut down production or will do so by week's end. With a few exceptions, they have completed about 10 episodes apiece, including those already aired. They'll go into repeats by early December.

Dramas, many of which remain in production for the next few weeks, will have more completed episodes in hand, with up to 14 installments.

Among top series, Fox's House has six episodes left (one will follow the Super Bowl), but ABC has only three more episodes of Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives after this week, and both are now filming their last segments.

NBC will be forced to punch out of The Office after next week's episode after star Steve Carell, a Writers Guild member, refused to cross the picket line. Heroes ends Dec. 3, and the CSI trio expect to have four to six episodes each.

One conservation target: series on low-rated Fridays, where NBC's Friday Night Lights and Las Vegas are expected to be replaced so remaining episodes can be redeployed on other nights.

ABC will test out Women's Murder Club on Thursday next week. And Men in Trees, with five additional episodes left over from last season, will last through February.

Also look for midseason CBS comedies The New Adventures of Old Christine and newcomer The Captain to show up on Mondays in mid-January.

Elsewhere, networks are reaching for their stockpiles of game shows and other reality series, and will probably move or expand newsmagazines to fill empty slots.

CBS is gearing up for its first in-season cycle of Big Brother, which would start in February or March, three times a week. The network also ordered a 13th cycle of The Amazing Race, which had planned only one contest this season.

So what do we think about the writers strike? Though I do not know much on it, from what I gather, it seems justified. With the technology changing on a constant basis, television isn't what it used to be. Now you can catch your favorite television program that you've missed online and if you're a huge fan you can get the DVD set of the entire season one week after it's done. Okay maybe not that fast but you get what I'm saying. The fact of the matter is that the writers aren't getting paid enough for their work. Say you work overtime, pitch in on weekends and still you don't get paid for the extra you've put in. I'm assuming that is exactly how these writers are feeling when they're not getting a chunk of the dvd sales and internet programming they've worked so hard on. Someone told me that there has only been a 1% pay raise in the past 9 years. 9 years?! Are you kidding me? Aside from production and the actors conveying the material, the writers are the ones who make these shows popular. Without the creative thought behind those with the pen, we wouldn't even tune in. They're the ones who give us cliffhangers, give up DRAMA, why wouldn't they deserve what they're asking for?

The Boondocks Season 2: Episode 1

Add to My Profile | More Videos

If you're a regular viewer of Adult Swim (as you can tell clearly I am) you're not unfamiliar with The Boondocks. Many of it's black viewers like myself can completely identify with this show. Everyone knows an Uncle Ruckus type character who can't stand being in his own skin, a Huey character that wants to see people apply themselves when they're fully capable of it, a Riley who is absorbed in the hip hop culture even to Tom Dubois who has his own issues with not being what people consider the stereotypical black man. The show may rub some people the wrong way but you have to keep in mind that it's all in good humor. When you throw being politically correct out of the window, you'll thoroughly enjoy the show. So sit back and enjoy season 2, episode 1 of The Boondocks, one which I consider one of the funniest episodes of the season so far.

As a HUGE fan of Jay-Z, I won't lie, I was extremely disappointed with last years Kingdom Come. There were a lot of short comings that didn't have that Jay swagger that made you love him. It made me almost wish he had written down some lyrics so he would've realized how some of those tracks on the album weren't living up to his legacy. Jay's releasing another album tomorrow, AMERICAN GANGSTER inspired by this weekends #1 movie. I hope you went to see that, it was definitely one of the best movies to come out this year. And I have a feeling this is one of the best albums this year as well. THIS IS JAY, there's no question about it. He's returned to sound that made him the top of his game and I highly suggest you cop that album tomorrow.
Because I am excited that I've finally stopped being lazy to get around to this, I'm going to actually post something for the first time in here other than that lame jump off post. Before I get into this blog and what it will be about for me, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kristina and I am a college student from Michigan. School right now consumes a lot of my life so if I miss posting a day here and there it will be because my jackass professors have ran me ragged that week. Why bother starting a blog if you're not if you're not going to be entirely active with it? It's not that I won't, I'm just giving a heads up so I won't have to address it constantly. Plus there are instances where I'll find something that catches my eye, like a television show or a particular song that my inner circle of friends are oblivious too. It's why I turn to the internet to get learn about new things, get opinions or vent about anything on my mind. You could say it's the reason why I am up now at 4:34 in the morning. I'm attempting at registering for an anatomy class that is usually snatched up by the med students of my school. Basically I'm staying up until it's fine to call in and place dibs on the class I want. In the meantime while I'm trying to hard to stay awake, I'm keeping myself occupied with adult swim. The usuals are on tonight like Robot Chicken, Family Guy, Futurama, Metalocalypse (One show I still haven't grasped) and Lucy: The daughter of the devil. However tonight there was another show debuting by the name of Xavier: Renegade Angel. I had apprehensions of actually watching the show due in part to the fact that it looked...well dumb. The commercials of a strange man/animal type character dancing in the desert to middle eastern music was a bit confusing. Still I managed to catch the episode before tonight adult swim's website and loved it.

The show follows Xavier, a rather strange looking faun-like wanderer/seeker (complete with snake hand, backwards knees and a beak) who is travelling across the land to find out the truth about his mysterious and uncertain origin. Xavier meets all kinds of different folk on his journey who he bores to tears with self obsessed tales about his life and his ability to "blow minds", and encounters rednecks who don't take kindly to his appearance. He speaks in a low, gruff, movie-trailer type tone which accentuates his narcissistic rambling. Although Xavier is a moral being who means well, he tends to cause havoc wherever he goes, attempting to help people along the way but unknowingly making situations worse due to total incompetence (in S01E01, we see in a flashback that he burnt his house down as a teenager whilst practicing a spiritual ritual. The fire killed his adoptive parents, yet he is totally oblivious that it was his fault and is still out to find the person responsible). When asked if he has any powers, he is heard to say "powers are for the weak", yet the truth is that he has few if any as he is incapable of executing them efficiently. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

It's a strange show, one I couldn't put into my own words. What I can say is that Xavier is definitely funny and definitely different than what you would see in the other higher rated shows on AS. Some of the jokes are right there in your face, for example: Xavier runs into a young woman who could careless about the story of his life. He feels the need to tell her anyways despite her lack of interest. As the two are walking down the street, Xavier pushes this young woman out of the way of an oncoming truck. What's the joke? The truck isn't anywhere near here. There are other funny moments in the show you'll either catch first hand or will need to see the particular episode again to catch. You might want to do so before this show suffers the fate of what was once brilliant AS comedy coughsTom goes to the Mayorcoughs. If you're ever bored one day at work or home with a good internet connection, I suggest catching this show on adultswim.com. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

A grand opening of sorts....
